“La “Chaume” is the name of that part of “Les Sables d’Olonne” on which Castle and Tower are erected.

People living in it are mentionned since Gallo-Roman epoch. It was first a little fishing harbor and Fishermen village.

Then around the 13th century ” Les Sables d’Olonne” was created at the East of La Chaume and growing progressively, both vilages ended to be reunited.

One can say ” La Chaume” is the nest of Les Sables d’Olonne”
